The Carl Panzram Quiz!
Carl PanzramCarl Panzram was born in Polk County Minnesota. He was a troubled young man, and was a handful to say the least. This is not all his own fault, his dad walked away from his family and left Carl, his four brothers and mother to fend for themselves. This abandonment filled the young Carl with rage. Carl Panzram committed his first crime at the age of 11 and was caught. The state sent him to the Minnesota State Training School. This is where he said they sexually abused and beat him. This further intensified the hatred he felt inside. He later convinced the people at the school he was rehabilitated and was free to go home. He tells his mom he wants to be a Priest and she sends him to the Immanuel Lutheran Church school. But because he threatened one of the teachers with a handgun he got expelled. At this time he also frequently got into trouble with the law for burglary and theft. At age 14 he leaves home to become a drifter. Not long after leaving he claimed to be raped by 4 hobos and this fills Carl with even more anger against humanity. Carl was frequently caught for burglaries, theft, and larceny to name but a few of his crimes and spent many years in prison, just to be released again. He was a big man and easily overpowered the men he stole from and raped. This cycle of burglary theft, rape, and other crime and capture continued. Eventually he flees to Africa, but returns due to people looking for him after several murders and other crimes he committed in Angola. He is caught for the final time in America 1928, because he was a bad burglar. He had grown wary of this life and confessed to the murder of two boys in 1922 and 1923 and was sentenced to 25 years in Leavenworth Federal Penitentiary. He became friends with a prison guard and later confessed to many murders and rapes. Carl Panzram was executed on the morning of the 5th of September 1930.
